Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Chair of the Trade Union of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, the host institution for G5 activities, said that the five universities’ Trade Unions had recently not only drawn on each university’s strengths in representing and safeguarding the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of public employees and workers at the five institutions, but had also extended care, support, encouragement, and assistance to staff and teachers at schools in remote areas facing considerable difficulties. The renovation of teacher housing at Chiem Hoa High School in Tuyen Quang Province was among the activities undertaken by the five universities’ Trade Unions in 2024. With a total renovation cost of nearly VND 200 million, the completed project, upon acceptance and commissioning, will give teachers peace of mind about their accommodation, daily living, and work in the coming period. Although the funding was modest, it reflected the care that Trade Union members at the five universities felt for their colleagues working in remote areas and areas facing considerable difficulties.

Also at the ceremony, Le Thanh Tuyen, Chair of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Education Sector Trade Union, and Tran Thi Thom, Vice Principal in charge of Chiem Hoa High School, thanked the five universities’ Trade Unions for their care and the deeply meaningful gift to the school’s staff and teachers.

Tran Thi Thom, Vice Principal in charge of Chiem Hoa High School, delivers remarks.

“The teacher housing at Chiem Hoa High School was built in 1993 and has deteriorated severely after 32 years of use, particularly following the impact of Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi). Throughout this period, 14 families of the school’s staff and teachers have had to live in the deteriorating building, which has affected their lives and work to some extent. Now that the building has been restored, renovated, and put into use, teachers will have better accommodation and greater peace of mind as they pursue their educational mission,” emphasized Tran Thi Thom.

The ceremony was marked by a joyful, enthusiastic atmosphere shared by the school’s staff and teachers and the delegation from the five universities.
