On the afternoon of April 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 300/QĐ-TTg dated April 11, 2024, establishing the State Professorial Council for the 2024–2029 term.

The State Professorial Council’s organizational structure, duties, powers, and working principles are prescribed in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 37/2018/QĐ-TTg dated August 31, 2018. Accordingly, the Council’s duties and powers include providing guidance on the activities of Institutional Professorial Councils and disciplinary and interdisciplinary professorial councils. It also coordinates the collection of reports from higher education institutions, classifies the applications of candidates nominated by higher education institutions by scientific discipline and specialization, publishes candidates’ applications on the State Professorial Council’s website, and forwards them to disciplinary and interdisciplinary professorial councils.
