Conference to Review 2024 Full-Time Undergraduate Admissions and Set Directions for 2025 Admissions

This morning (October 16), National Economics University (NEU) held a conference to review full-time undergraduate admissions in 2024 and set directions for admissions in 2025.

A view of the conference

Attending the conference were Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Dr. Le Anh Duc, Deputy Head in charge of the Department of Academic Affairs; members of the Standing Committee of the 2024 Full-Time Undergraduate Admissions Council; members of the 2024 Full-Time Undergraduate Admissions Working Group; and representatives of the leadership of schools, departments, faculties and institutes.

Dr. Le Anh Duc, Deputy Head in charge of the Department of Academic Affairs, presents a report on the results of full-time undergraduate admissions in 2024 and directions for admissions in 2025

Presenting the report on the results of full-time undergraduate admissions in 2024 and directions for admissions in 2025, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Deputy Head in charge of the Department of Academic Affairs, said that the 2024 admissions regulations remained largely unchanged from 2023, including online registration through the Ministry’s system (registration for examinations, admission review, etc.) and the nationwide system for filtering duplicate admission offers, among other features.

The University also issued timely notices and implementation guidelines to ensure clear, public and transparent information across communication channels. Admissions were conducted in compliance with the University’s admissions regulations, plans and procedures.

In 2024, NEU offered 7,995 admission places across 66 admissions codes (compared with 60 codes in 2023), including five technology majors: Information Security and Information Systems (taught in Vietnamese); Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Software Engineering (taught in English); and one tourism major: Entertainment and Event Management.

Proposing directions for admissions in 2025, Dr. Le Anh Duc noted that on June 25, 2024, NEU issued Notice No. 1305/TB-ĐHKTQD on its directions for full-time undergraduate admissions in 2025, featuring several new points.

Accordingly, NEU will retain three admissions methods: direct admission, combined admission review and admission review based on high school graduation examination results.

For admission review based on high school graduation examination results, the share of admission places will decrease by a further 3 percentage points, from 18% in 2024 to 15% in 2025, with only four subject combinations accepted: A00, A01, D01 and D07. The University will transfer these places to its separate admission review method under its admissions plan, increasing that method’s share from 80% in 2024 to 83% in 2025.

For admission review for advanced and high-quality programs, NEU will use five admissions codes, with separate quotas and admission review scores for each code: two codes for advanced programs and three for high-quality programs.

Students admitted under each admissions code may choose a specific academic program within that code according to their personal preferences.

Thus, when registering for admission, applicants must identify whether their chosen major’s admissions code is for a standard, high-quality or advanced program. Applicants wishing to enroll in a high-quality program will not have to take an additional examination organized by the University.
