NEU Meets with Students Facing Particularly Difficult Circumstances for the 2024 Giap Thin Lunar New Year
On the morning of January 24, 2024, National Economics University (NEU) held a gathering with students for the Giap Thin Lunar New Year and presented 242 gifts to students facing particularly difficult circumstances.
Attending the program were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU; MSc. Nguyen Hoang Ha, Head of the Department of Political Affairs and Student Management; faculty members representing the leadership of faculties and institutes; and students of the University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Vice President of NEU, delivers remarks.
Speaking at the gathering in a spirit of mutual support, solidarity, and care for NEU students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu emphasized that inquiries into students’ circumstances had shown that many students at the University faced hardship yet remained determined to succeed in their studies. The University therefore decided to organize the “Tet Gifts for Students” program, a meaningful activity with deep humanitarian and social significance.
He expressed his hope that the more than 200 students facing difficult circumstances who received gifts that day would continue striving to overcome their difficulties, follow the example of previous generations of students, and build on their achievements and fine qualities. Although modest, the gifts reflected the University’s care and support for students facing hardship as Tet and spring approached, while encouraging and motivating them to strive in their studies. On behalf of the University’s leadership, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hieu wished the students good health and happiness as they prepared to celebrate a joyful and warm Giap Thin Lunar New Year with their families and loved ones.

MSc. Nguyen Hoang Ha, Head of the Department of Political Affairs and Student Management, speaks at the gathering.
Sharing his thoughts after the gathering, Hoang Dai Nghia, a student majoring in Marketing in Cohort 64, said, “The gifts, care, and encouragement from our teachers today have brought us warmth against Hanoi’s cold, helping us fulfill our responsibilities in our studies and personal development. We promise to use these gifts for their intended purpose and to work hard in our studies and personal development to become citizens who contribute to society. We will foster a spirit of learning, solidarity, and mutual support, and build a healthy learning environment.”

University leaders and representatives of faculty and institute leadership present gifts to students.
The affection and care shown by the Party Committee, the NEU Board of Presidents, and NEU’s faculty members toward students facing difficult circumstances helped bring them some comfort and a joyful Tet. Though modest, the gifts provided meaningful encouragement, motivating students to continue striving in both their studies and their lives.
