On the morning of March 20, 2024, the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs held a guidance and discussion session on rubric-based course assessment for semester 2 of the 2023-2024 academic year.
An overview of the program
Attending the session were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President; Dr. Vu Van Ngoc, Dean of the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs; Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assurance; representatives of the leadership of departments, faculties and schools; and lecturers teaching specialized courses in the Advanced, High-Quality, POHE and Business Analytics programs.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, speaks at the conference.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, noted that accreditation and quality improvement are currently receiving particular attention throughout the education sector. In recent years, National Economics University (NEU) has consistently worked to develop and improve the quality of its academic programs to provide students with a learning environment that meets international standards. One of the University’s key strategic goals is to focus on rankings and accreditation. NEU has 19 programs that meet ACBSP quality standards, including 18 programs at the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs out of a total of 25 programs undergoing accreditation. This establishes a solid foundation for the University to refine and improve teaching quality and deliver lasting academic value to students.
Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong also noted that developing and collecting rubric scoring forms that meet the requirements of four ACBSP accreditation standards has been an ongoing process across all courses. Guidance on rubric scoring has been provided to the divisions, generating considerable constructive feedback. The Vice President therefore expressed his hope that the day’s guidance and discussion session would help lecturers clearly understand the procedures, templates and tools, address their questions, and provide an opportunity to share experiences with the rubric scoring process to be applied in the coming semester.
Dr. Pham Dan Khanh, Vice Dean of the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs, presents “Procedures and Templates for Course Assessment in Accordance with ACBSP Accreditation Standards.”
In 2023, the School of Advanced, High-Quality and POHE Programs implemented the “Plan for Improving Academic Program Quality in Accordance with ACBSP Accreditation Standards” and the “Plan for Quality Accreditation of Eight Programs Against the Standards of ACBSP, United States.” As a result, 18 programs undergoing accreditation were recognized by ACBSP. The next step in the accreditation process is to collect accreditation evidence, including developing and collecting rubric scoring forms that meet Standard 4 of ACBSP accreditation. The guidance and discussion session on rubric-based course assessment was held to clarify the system of procedures, standardize templates and tools, and provide updates on changes to ACBSP standards in preparation for implementing and applying rubric scoring forms in semester 2 of the 2023-2024 academic year.
