At the seminar, entrepreneur Pham Dinh Doan, Chairman of Phu Thai Holdings, gave a presentation offering an overview of the new global economy. He highlighted challenges in the post-COVID economic landscape, including the emergence of robots, which has affected how people live, work, and interact; potential risks involving geopolitics and major economies; and high inflation and persistent conflicts that continue to affect commodity, oil, and grain prices.

In addition, supply chain disruptions persist, and freight rates have risen due to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks in the Red Sea. Goods have become more expensive, and energy and food prices have surged. Droughts in some areas have affected crop yields, causing household and business costs to soar and leading to a crisis in living and production costs. The world order is becoming increasingly multipolar, with multiple centers of power.
According to the 2024 economic forecast, economic growth will slow from 3.5% in 2022 to 3% in 2023 and 2.9% in 2024. Headline inflation is expected to decline from 9.2% in 2022 to 5.9% in 2023 and 4.8% in 2024. As the global economy changes, the Government, businesses, and organizations must pursue integration. Leaders must change and improve.
To drive economic growth in Vietnam, the Government has introduced measures such as lowering lending rates, stabilizing the foreign exchange market, accelerating the disbursement of public investment funds, implementing credit packages to support industries and sectors, granting exemptions, reductions, and payment extensions for taxes, fees, and land use charges, and supporting businesses, among others.
At the seminar, Executive MBA students asked questions and presented their views on running businesses in 2024.
