National Economics University Continues to Rise in the Impact Ranking
On June 12, 2024, Times Higher Education (THE) released its ranking of universities worldwide based on their impact. In this edition, National Economics University (NEU) continued to rise, reaching the 401-600 band globally. In 2024, 13 educational institutions from Vietnam participated in THE’s ranking. NEU has appeared in this prestigious ranking for three consecutive years.
NEU remains among the universities in Vietnam featured in the global Impact Ranking, placing in the 401-600 band worldwide (with more than 1,963 universities from different continents participating in the ranking).

In 2024, NEU was ranked against four SDG criteria, placing in the 101-200 band for two of them.
For the SDG 8 criterion: Economic growth and sustainable employment (Decent Work and Economic Growth)
NEU placed in the 101-200 band for SDG 8, which ranks universities’ impact on Decent Work and Economic Growth. NEU and two other universities in Vietnam achieved this ranking. This clearly reflects how the University’s higher education mission has supplied the economy with high-quality human resources, contributing to economic growth and decent work. For many consecutive years, the proportion of the University’s graduates employed within their first year after graduation has consistently exceeded 95.6%. The University’s alumni have also consistently been recognized as accomplished entrepreneurs, politicians, and scientists.

NEU ranked in the 101-200 band for SDG 8, which assesses universities’ impact on decent work and economic growth.
For SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
NEU also ranked in the 101-200 band alongside two other universities in Vietnam. NEU scored 69.3 points on this indicator, higher than the global average of 54 points. This shows that NEU’s working, learning, research, and teaching environment is highly regarded. The University’s governance and educational activities are transparent and comply well with legal regulations.

NEU ranked in the 101-200 band for SDG 16, which assesses universities’ impact on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
For SDG 4, which ranks universities’ impact on education quality (Quality Education), and SDG 17, partnerships for sustainable development (Parnerships for the Goals), NEU also placed in the 601-800 band, with relatively high scores ranging from 69.9 to 75.7, well above the global average.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand has 77 higher education institutions in this ranking, Indonesia has 45, the Philippines has 56, Malaysia has 28, and Vietnam has 13.
THE Impact Rankings aim to measure higher education institutions’ success in implementing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which took effect in 2016 and call for global action to build a peaceful, equitable, and prosperous society.
The ranking assesses educational institutions’ impact and contributions to social development, human development, and environmental protection.
The 2024 edition of THE Impact Rankings attracted considerable global interest, with 1,963 higher education institutions participating (an increase of 372 new higher education institutions compared with the previous edition).
