From November 22 to 25, 2024, a delegation of faculty and staff from National Economics University (NEU) visited the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) to exchange experience in university governance. Guided by the motto Solidarity – Cooperation – Development, NEU and UEH have upheld a fine tradition spanning nearly 50 years, maintaining close ties and working together to build and develop sustainably.

The NEU faculty and staff delegation’s working visit to UEH was especially meaningful as it coincided with major advances at both institutions: their successful transitions to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and National Economics University, operating under a “multidisciplinary, multi-field university” model.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, President of UEH, said: “On behalf of UEH’s leadership, I would like to congratulate NEU on its recent achievement—a source of pride—as it officially became a university under the Prime Minister’s Decision dated November 15. UEH and NEU are two reputable institutions offering high-quality research and education at opposite ends of the country. We have always maintained close ties and supported each other since our establishment and throughout our development to this day, when both institutions have officially become multidisciplinary, multi-field universities. By continuing and building on this fine tradition, the relationship between UEH and NEU will certainly grow even closer in the future.”

Moved by UEH’s warm welcome, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of NEU, thanked UEH’s faculty and affirmed that NEU always treasures the enduring, strong, and fraternal cooperative relationship between NEU and UEH.
“We can affirm that the bond UEH and NEU have built over nearly 50 years is truly special. We are not only friends but also brothers, standing alongside each other in every activity. In particular, during our recent transition to a university, NEU learned a great deal from UEH’s experience. On the road ahead, we will certainly face many challenges under the new university model and amid global transformation. However, I believe that cooperation between our two institutions at opposite ends of the country, in a spirit of willingness to share and exchange experience, will help us take the right steps in the future.” Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong emphasized.

As part of the working program, the two institutions held a seminar on “Exchanging Experience in University Governance” to discuss their experience in organizational structure and education. In addition to the program in Ho Chi Minh City, the UEH and NEU delegations will attend a seminar in Vinh Long to share experience in establishing and organizing the operations of UEH’s Vinh Long Branch.

Generations of UEH and NEU leaders have worked to sustain and nurture this fine tradition through practical annual activities. We are confident that cooperation between UEH and NEU will grow ever stronger in the future as they jointly contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development.
