International Scientific Conference “Innovation in the Global Economy 2026”

On the morning of June 5, 2026, National Economics University, in collaboration with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, successfully organized the international conference titled: “Innovation in the Global Economy 2026”.

Attending the conference, on the side of international delegates, were: Prof. Dr. Ekaterina A. Kameneva – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Prof. Dr. Fedotova Marina Alekseevna – Deputy Director of Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Finance: Theory and Practice; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Egorova Daria Alekseevna – Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Dr. Natalia V. Linder – Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Ph.D. Candidate Rivero Padilla Daniel – Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Mr. Andrey Borodenko – Deputy Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center; Mr. Maksim Kurilov – First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Viktor Timonkin – Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam.

On behalf of National Economics University were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President; Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council; along with representatives of the leadership from Schools, Departments, Faculties, Institutes, Centers, faculty members, researchers, and students attending both in-person and online.

The conference serves as a scientific forum bringing together researchers, economic experts, policymakers, and business representatives from Vietnam and internationally. It is also an opportunity for the scientific community both domestically and abroad to exchange, discuss, and publish the latest research on innovation – one of the most crucial growth drivers of the modern economy. Organized with a spirit of rigorous academic inquiry, the conference is not only a venue for presenting research results but also a space for knowledge connection, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and building sustainable academic networks among organizations, universities, research institutes, and innovative enterprises.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu delivered the opening speech at the conference

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President emphasized that the world is witnessing profound transformations under the influence of digitalization, artificial intelligence, green transition, financial innovation, geopolitical shifts, and the restructuring of global supply chains. These trends not only open up many new development opportunities but also pose requirements and challenges for governance, economic-social development, and higher education.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu, innovation is not only a research area but also closely linked to the mission and development orientation of NEU as one of the leading higher education institutions in economics and management in Vietnam. Prof Hieu believes that today’s universities should not only research innovation but also proactively practice innovation in academic research, educational activities, university governance, digital transformation, and international collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu affirmed that the conference is a significant academic forum, providing an opportunity for scientists, experts, and managers to exchange, share experiences, expand cooperation, and seek solutions to the issues posed in the new development context.

Highly valuing the collaborative relationship between the National Economics University (NEU) and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu remarked that the partnership between these two higher education institutions holds special significance in the rapidly changing global context. Through collaborative activities, both parties can jointly research and propose solutions to prominent current issues such as developing an innovation ecosystem, digital transformation, green growth, public governance, and sustainable development.

In her online address at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Ekaterina A. Kameneva, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, expressed her delight in participating in the program and her hope that the Conference would become a meaningful academic forum for delegates to exchange and share experiences on innovation. She also expressed a desire to continue strengthening and developing the cooperative relationship between the two higher education institutions in the future.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thi Dong – Director of the Center for Innovation and Career Development delivered the keynote speech at the Conference

Delivering the keynote speech at the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thi Dong, Director of the Center for Innovation and Career Development, stated that the Conference has attracted significant interest from scientists both domestically and internationally. The Organizing Committee received over 160 papers and selected 135 high-quality ones for publication in the Conference proceedings.

The papers focus on researching, analyzing, and proposing solutions to promote innovation across various fields, including innovation management and entrepreneurship; artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies; green innovation, ESG, and sustainable development; finance, accounting, and fintech; education, human resources, and society; economics, policy, and development, along with emerging issues related to innovation and the development of the global economy.

Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of the Scientific & Training Council, National Economics University presented a study on data economics

Following the program was the plenary session featuring presentations from experts and scientists from Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Opening the session, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council, National Economics University, presented a paper on “Data Economics and Data-Driven Growth Models.” The presentation analyzed the increasingly important role of data in the modern economy, while clarifying the opportunities, challenges, and development directions for data-driven growth models in the context of the ongoing global digital transformation.

In the second presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daria Alekseevna Egorova delivered an online presentation on “The Impact of Investment as an Innovation Tool on National Socio-Economic Development.” The presentation provided an international perspective on the role of investment in promoting innovation, emphasizing the importance of building an effective investment ecosystem to enhance competitiveness and promote sustainable development.

Master Nguyen Hoa Cuong – Deputy Director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy Research, Central Policy and Strategy Committee presented a paper

Concluding the plenary session, Master Nguyen Hoa Cuong – Deputy Director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy Research, Central Policy and Strategy Committee, presented a paper on “Innovation in the Global Economy: Implications for Vietnam.” The presentation offered updated insights into global innovation trends and provided numerous policy suggestions to help Vietnam seize opportunities, enhance competitiveness, and strengthen its position in the process of international economic integration.

After the plenary session, the Conference continued with three parallel thematic discussion sessions, focusing on in-depth topics related to innovation, digital transformation, and data economics. The presentations and academic exchanges in these sessions contributed to clarifying many practical issues while creating opportunities for connection and expanding research collaboration between scientists and educational institutions of the two countries.
