On the afternoon of April 23, 2025, National Economics University (NEU) held an Information and Discussion Conference on Monitoring, Managing and Supporting International Students and Students in Full-Time Second-Degree Programs.

An overview of the conference

Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU; Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs; leadership representatives from schools, departments, faculties/institutes and centers; and assistants and administrative clerks from units with international students and students in second-degree programs.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, addresses the conference

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President of NEU, emphasized the importance of managing and supporting international students and students in full-time second-degree programs, which requires close and proactive coordination among units across the University.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong also affirmed that one of the University’s strategic goals is to attract more international students. However, current international student numbers have not met expectations. Improving the quality of support and management therefore contributes not only to retaining learners but also to enhancing the University’s reputation and appeal regionally and internationally.

At the conference, representatives of the units shared the advantages and challenges they faced in learner intake, monitoring, and support. They also proposed a range of practical solutions to improve operational effectiveness, including improving advising procedures and guidance on choosing suitable majors; registering international students and students in second-degree programs for courses; personalizing study plans; offering additional supplementary classes; establishing a single management point of contact in each unit and strengthening coordination across departments and institutes; and holding regular discussions and gathering feedback from learners to make timely policy adjustments…

Delegates and students exchange views and offer suggestions at the conference

It is hoped that, through the conference, the units will agree on a common approach and work together to develop practical management and support measures that help students complete their academic programs on schedule and improve the quality of learning and education at the University.
