Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President; Dr. Dam Son Toai, Head of the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assurance; Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs; and Assoc. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, delivers remarks
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, emphasized that requirements for assessing learners’ attainment of academic program outcome standards are becoming increasingly stringent, both under the educational quality assessment standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and in external reviews. The training therefore provides an important foundation for reviewing and updating outcome standards, academic program content, teaching and learning methods, and course examination design.
Assoc. Prof. Bui Huy Nhuong, Vice President, also expressed his hope that faculty and staff participating in the workshop would demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility, absorb the training content, and apply it as effectively as possible to reviewing and improving academic programs and courses. This would contribute to improving the quality of education and advancing the quality accreditation of academic programs against national and international standards.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Huong, an education expert, exchanges views and shares insights at the workshop
At the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Huong, an education expert, discussed how to conduct analyses and develop assessment plans based on academic program outcome standards; plan assessments and develop assessment templates based on outcome standards; and collect data to support assessment against academic program outcome standards.
Measuring and assessing attainment of course outcome standards to determine the extent to which learners have or have not met them, and evaluating the quality of examinations and individual examination questions, are essential requirements for every higher education institution today. This work aims to make judgments about learners’ competencies and learning outcomes transparent, give learners opportunities to develop self-assessment skills, help them assess their own progress, and encourage, motivate, and promote continual improvement in learning. It also provides educational institutions in general, as well as lecturers, with a basis for identifying their strengths and weaknesses, making adjustments, improving teaching and learning activities, and continually striving to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning.
